From Newbie to Mentor

The First Step

I still remember the day I opened my Demat account. It was after two years of working hard and clearing my education loan, and I was ready for the next financial step. I had a decent portfolio of mutual funds, but the thrill of the stock market and the potential for higher returns were too enticing. A friend of mine was making daily profits in futures and options, and I wanted a piece of that cake.

However, the journey didn't start as smoothly as I had hoped. The stock market was a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, and unfortunately, my early experiences were filled with more losses than gains. That's when I stumbled upon Benjamin Graham's book, "The Intelligent Investor" — a recommended read for any budding investor. It was a revelation.

The Graham Revelation

Graham's book introduced me to the concept of value investing — the art of picking stocks that appear to be trading for less than their intrinsic or book value. It taught me how to identify potential stocks and understand their true value, independent of their market price.

Using Graham's teachings, I began to evaluate stocks based on their financial and technical fundamentals. I started to look for companies that were almost debt-free and learned to calculate their intrinsic value. But figuring out the actual value of a stock was just half the battle. The next step was to invest at the right entry level.

The Right Entry

Trade volume and the Relative Strength Index (RSI) became my go-to indicators. They helped me determine the right time to enter a position, ensuring I bought at a discounted price relative to the stock's intrinsic value. This strategy transformed my investing journey. I began to spot multiple quality stocks and invest in them at the right time. My returns exceeded those of many mutual funds, and all without paying any fees to fund houses and agents.

But the benefits weren't just financial. Value investing changed my perspective on money. It gave me an abundance mindset and a sense of peace. The thrill of daily trading was replaced with the satisfaction of long-term gains. And with time, I found another passion — teaching.

Becoming a Mentor

Today, I teach thousands of newcomers the art of value investing. My teaching process is simple, interactive, and online, making it accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

My advice to all aspiring value investors? Remember, value investing is not trading or gambling. It's a long-term strategy that requires learning and patience. The stock market isn't a get-rich-quick scheme, but with the right approach, it can be a pathway to financial independence and security.
